Specialist Counsellor

Practitioner level 4

By successfully completing this course, you will:

  • Gain the skills and knowledge to become a Specialist Counsellor
  • Be awarded the professional BSY Diploma
  • Become a Registered BSY Specialist Counsellor
  • Be awarded the Level 4 ABC externally validated Certificate*

You can study this course from the comfort of your own home; in your own time and at your own pace; with helpful support and encouragement from our friendly tutors. There are also an optional 2 days of practical training available with this course.

From fundamental counselling techniques to advanced skills and specialist theories, this course will give you a strong background and equip you with the necessary knowledge to counsel a wide group of clients. Gain an understanding of the skills of counselling, the vocabulary used within the profession, effective communication skills, how to untangle a problem, practising empathy, changing behaviour and using motivational skills. Become equipped with skills to deal with bereavement and depression respectively. Learn how to counsel the grieving, you will also learn about depression and its effects. You will study the joint issues of anger and aggression, addressing some of the myths as well as learning why we get angry and how best to deal with it. Explore family therapy and learn what constitutes a dysfunctional family, to identify and diagnose and how best to treat it.

Optional 2 days of Practical Training are available for this course. Practical workshops can be held in various locations around the UK and are available for an additional fee of £75 per day. Your practical training is a valuable opportunity to learn directly from an experienced practical training tutor with specialist skills.

  • Pay with a deposit of £75 £55, followed by 18 monthly instalments of £40
