This course looks at whether alcoholism is truly a genetic illness in which the individual cannot be held responsible for his actions, or whether he /she became addicted through weakness. It investigates the theory of the addictive personality and the psychology of the addictive mind. Alcoholism can be diagnosed accurately and its progression can be predicted.  Empathising and working with the alcoholic can lead to successful treatment of the disease, freeing the true personality of the individual.
